The Victoria and Albert Museum

There are so many amazing exhibitions running at The V & A right now, including the new Pink Floyd exhibition to mark their 50th anniversary.

As many of you know Jacqueline has always been interested in the connection between interests like scuba diving and free diving and good breathing. The V & A are bringing flash figure drawing, speed portrait drawing and sketching with clay to The Learning Academy on Friday.

Jacqueline has sought to bring one of her favourite (land based) pastimes to often coincide with her Teacher Trainings Courses running in Ibiza. That long time pastime in question is life drawing and now with the two disciplines so close together on Friday at the V & A Jacqueline Purnell could not be more thrilled. She is looking forward to seeing everyone and she will be available to answer questions at the Victoria and Albert Museum after the class.

Exciting New Days ahead in London for 2017

Exciting New Days ahead in London for 2017

Jacqueline Purnell is continuing to champion experts in the field of Yoga to deliver their expertise to existing teachers and student teachers for 2017 and beyond with exciting new course content. The London venues have been hand chosen by Jacqueline and she continues to create close relationships with the personnel at these beautiful and comfortable yoga homes. The following venue Jacqueline visited while it was still a building site and she had to don a hard hat and "visualise!".

With huge thanks to Jacqueline Purnell for championing this day and inspiring Jane to run this day for the first time, Jacqueline is forefront at enticing experts to come forwards and be heard at these wonderful days directed at Teachers to gain their Continuous Professional Development.

Jacqueline asked for a small article and Sarah Galloway attended and has written the following piece on the day:

"Sitting on out mats with Jane Slevin positioned at the centre, we wait in anticipation as to what a practice for life means to us. An IST day, that from the start, sounded intriguing & curious. Jane, a personable & highly experienced teacher of yoga, presents "fascia" a word I wasn't hugely adept with. A network of fibrous connective tissue within the body, weaving our bones, muscles, organs, blood vessels and nerves together. Learning about fascia & how it is vital to consider when teaching our classes & moving our own bodies, to prevent injury and keep us supple, brought an understanding and appreciation, as Jane broke it down in simple terms making it accessible to all.

Jane chanting the yoga sutras in Sanskrit in turn as we lay in stillness in savasana, brought about a sense of peace and referring to them throughout the session gave an greater understanding as they can be difficult to access and relate to for some of us.

Then followed a truly enlightening yoga practise, a combination of Ashtanga & vinyasa flow, to encourage us to go beyond what we already know & are comfortable with in our current practise. Encouraged to tune in and listen to our bodies & use random movements before holding an Asana, put fascia in motion & our bodies and minds working as one. Not putting too much of the thought into what we were doing was key, rather to tap into what our bodies needed & to go with what felt right brought about a feeling of release & newness to the practise.

Yoga nidra to complete the day which left me feeling satisfied & eager to look into the practise of Ashtanga and this idea of moving more before holding the linear postures we have become accustomed to. The title of practise for life became clear, as there is much I would take from the session to use both personally and professionally. A big thanks to Jane who I hope to see at another IST day in the near future."

Testimonial

Helene RobinThe awesome sweet location where I started after two years no training due to Disc Hernia troubles was a hearth warming welcome back to yoga.

As a bootcamper I joined the teacher training programme and with focus, concentration and beautiful build up I was within three days getting more and more back in my body.

The sweet and strong guidance was uplifting and did bring a feeling of wanting more.

More understanding and more training.... hope to be back soon...

Helene Robin

I am pretty new to Yoga and had a great yoga holiday experience at Yogashala Ibiza.

It is a beautiful location and Jacqueline is a fantastic teacher. There was a great balance in the practice between relaxation and extending yourself physically and would suit all levels of experience, even me.

I arrive from a long flight exhausted with a knee injury and left 10 days later invigorated and well on the road to recovery with my leg. I would love to come again soon.
